Faldrin has had a love of magic since an early age, having a human alchemist as a father and an elven wizard as a mother. Even better, he inherited the aptitude for it from his mother, and she took him on as an apprentice when he was only twelve.

It was toward the end of his apprenticeship that he began to feel a calling. His family had always paid deference to Boccob, not surprising given their talents. But Faldrin felt the draw to do more. Once his apprenticeship was done, he sought out one of the remote temples of Boccob and petitioned to become an neophyte. They received few such petitions, but were nevertheless rigorous in their standards. Thankfully, being a fully-trained wizard spoke well for him, and he was accepted.

Many more years of training followed, until he was finally elevated to the rank of acolyte. At this point the elder priest of the temple suggested that he might do well with a few years of exploring the world, looking for lost magical knowledge or treasures.

Most recently, he has received a letter from the older priest at the temple telling him of a fallen temple of evil near a small village named Hommlet in the vicinity of Verbobonc. Faldrin is eager to investigate, since the temple may contain lost magical knowledge or power.
